A ~400ms window during which a leader validator produces a block on Solana — the smallest unit of network time.
A slot is Solana's block interval, targeting roughly 400 milliseconds. Each slot has a leader validator responsible for producing a block. Slots that pass without a block are called skipped slots.
The current slot number is essentially the block height. Transactions reference a recent blockhash tied to a slot to prevent replay.
