Definition

A sandwich sees a pending swap in the mempool, front-runs it with a buy (raising price), lets the victim trade at inflated price, then back-runs with a sell (capturing the impact). Loose slippage settings make sandwiches easier.

On Solana, anti-MEV RPCs (Helius, Jito bundle protection, Triton) reduce sandwich exposure by not exposing pre-confirmation transactions to public relayers.
