MEV

Maximal Extractable Value — profit that block producers or fast traders can extract by reordering, inserting, or censoring transactions.

MEV describes any value extractable by controlling transaction ordering. Common forms: sandwich attacks, arb capture, liquidations. On Solana, MEV is limited compared to Ethereum because there is no public mempool by default, but Jito bundles and searcher priority fees create MEV markets.

For retail traders, MEV mostly appears as sandwich losses. Anti-MEV RPCs mitigate exposure.
