Token Decimals

The number of decimal places used to display a token amount — set at mint creation and permanent.

Decimals define how many fractional digits a token uses. SOL uses 9 decimals (1 SOL = 1,000,000,000 lamports). USDC on Solana uses 6. Most meme coins use 6 or 9 decimals.

Decimals are fixed at mint creation and cannot change. Choosing the right value at mint matters for user readability and market pricing.
